Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for visiting Sanae Floral Craft!

I am Sanae Gray, a Tsumami Zaiku Artist based in Canberra, Australia.

Tsumami Zaiku is a traditional Japanese craft made from small, square-cut pieces of fabric (usually chirimen or cotton crepe raw fabric) that is delicately pinched and folded with tweezers. It originated over two hundred years ago during the Edo period in Japan.

There are two types of techniques: ‘Maru-Tsumami’ and ‘Ken-Tsumami’ which are used to make patterns of flowers or birds. The most famous handicraft using this technique is ‘Kanzashi’ – a hair accessory created to be worn and matched with a Kimono (traditional Japanese clothing / Maiko’s cloth). I am using this technique to create my floral craft and hair accessories.

My products are suitable for celebrations such as your wedding, formal event, Coming of Age ceremony or a child’s *Shichi-go-san. Not only limited to hair accessories, I also create other beautiful items such as ornaments and decorated photo stands. These memorable items (created with Tsumami Zaiku Floral Craft) will enhance your precious memories. I can also create made-to-order items using vivid colour Tsumami Zaiku, as unique gifts for your family and loved ones.

*Shichi-go-san, which means seven, five and three, is a Japanese annual event to celebrate healthy growth and wished longevity.
